Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety can feel overwhelming, making even the simplest tasks seem daunting. At Turner Counseling, we understand the weight of living with anxiety and are here to provide you with the tools, support, and guidance you need to regain peace and confidence.

What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety is more than occasional worry or nervousness. It’s a mental health condition that can disrupt your thoughts, emotions, and physical well-being. Common symptoms include:

  • Excessive worry that’s hard to control

  • Feeling restless, tense, or on edge

  • Difficulty concentrating or focusing

  • Irritability or heightened sensitivity

  • Physical symptoms like a racing heart, sweating, or shortness of breath

  • Avoiding situations or places out of fear

  • Trouble sleeping or staying asleep

Anxiety can take many forms, including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, and phobias. Whatever you’re facing, we’re here to help.

Our Approach to Anxiety Treatment

At Turner Counseling, we believe that healing from anxiety requires a compassionate, personalized approach.

1. Safe and Supportive Space

We provide a welcoming environment where you can share your experiences without judgment. Our therapists are committed to helping you feel understood and supported throughout your journey.

2. Evidence-Based Techniques

Our team uses proven therapeutic methods to address anxiety, including:

  • Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT): supports individuals in repairing their relationship with themselves by fostering emotional safety and engaging in parts work. This approach helps clients deepen self-understanding and cultivate inner harmony for personal growth and healing.

  • Exposure Therapy: Gradually and safely facing fears to reduce avoidance behaviors and build confidence. I’m in the process of training Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) which is an advanced form of exposure therapy specialized for OCD, phobias, and multiple forms of anxiety

  • Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: Helping you stay present and manage physical symptoms of anxiety.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): a mindfulness-based approach that encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment while committing to actions aligned with their core values. This therapy fosters psychological flexibility, helping clients navigate challenges and build a meaningful life.

3. Whole-Person Care

Anxiety affects the mind and body, so we take a holistic approach. Alongside therapy, we may explore:

  • Stress management techniques

  • Lifestyle changes such as exercise, nutrition, and sleep habits

  • Collaboration with healthcare providers for medication support, when appropriate, is part of a comprehensive approach to health. This emphasizes lifestyle transformation by addressing overall health needs and prioritizing nervous system-soothing techniques as the foundation for effective stress management.

4. Collaborative, Goal-Oriented Plans

Your treatment plan will be tailored to your unique needs and goals. Together, we’ll track your progress and make adjustments as needed to ensure your success.
